Sample Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced DELPHI & XE developer to complement our existing team for a D7 to XE6 migration..

Must haves:
>Solid Delphi experience,
>XE6+ experience
> SQL 2008R2

>JEDI experience a bonus
>Eureka Log a bonus
>TNT experience a bonus

This conversation is not simple.   We need to upgrade existing VCL's, a large library of common classes before we can upgrade the base form.  Some classes (TNT) must be removed in the process.

There is A LOT of code to be migrated so this project is definitely only for the experienced.

Hello

My name is Michael from Moskov (UTC+3)

I have been working with all Delphi versions starting from the first.

I like such type of tasks, I like to investigate, do research and accomplish what other people afraid to do.

On my previous job I often worked with legacy code, did much refactoring and optimization. I like to make programs better.

The only real problem in this job is a conversion to Unicode, based on my experience, unfortunately it is impossible to estimate how much work required to upgrade old app to Unicode without looking at it.

The other possible problems are not too complicated: using CharInSet, Format Settings for date, upgrade 3rd party libraries.

If you are using BDE then it is time to get rid of it.

I would like to prepare unit tests first and use cases and then step-by-step do the conversion.

Maybe make sense to use XE8 instead of XE6, SQL14 instead of 2008

I used many component and utils for Delphi including JEDI, Developer Express, TNT and SDL. Not familiar with Eurika Log, but worked with Made except.

I am very attentive to details, always answer questions and polite in communications.

My rate for such type of work is 30$/hr, it is not high.

Let me know if you have any questions. I can do quick investigation and estimate the amount of work for free if you wish.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
