IELTS Speaking Test Practice With Answers

PART 1 (Interview)

Time:4-5 minutes
Now, in this first part of the test I'm going to ask you some questions about ........ .

Q. What kinds of public transport are there where you live?
A. There are various types of public transportations in my city, but the popular ones would be buses and trains.

Q. Which type of public transport do you use the most? Why?
A. I often use the train, because it is less expensive. Besides that, trains are more comfortable and faster than buses.

Q. What problems are there with public transport where you live?
A. Many people have complained about the high number of criminal activities inside public transportations here. And then, the schedule is never on time due to the fact that many of the facilities are broke down. Many public transportations do not have enough seats to support the people who wait for them to arrive and that’s a very big problem.

Q. How would you improve the public transport system?
A. I think the government should provide some video cameras and other means of security inside these public transportations, in order to reduce the crime rate, and they should also improve the vehicle maintenance and replace some of the old ones. If I get the chance, I will appoint more security guards in those public transpiration systems. I would also improve the quality of those transportations and would introduce many new vehicles.

PART 2 (Cue Card)

PART 3 (Discussion)

Time:4-5 minutes
We've been talking about ............. , and I'd now like to ask you some questions related to this.

Q. Who are the most influential people in your society?
A. Famous scientists, writers, politicians, business people, actors are mainly the most influential people in our society. Apart from that, newspaper editors, teachers and army people also have influences over people to some extent.  One of the most influential people in my country would be the current president of Indonesia Joko Widodo. He is very popular among the people here, because of his humble and simple lifestyle. Besides that, everyone knew that he is free from corruption and nepotism. He had been given an award from the international Time Magazine as one of the inspirational people in Indonesia.

Q. Are there many heroes or role models today?
A. Yes, there are many public figures that people could select as their role models these days. They could be athletes, actors, scientists or politicians. But I do believe that people should be selective when they choose their heroes. Some famous persons have negative personality and we should not follow them. For example, a famous singer is a role model and hero for thousand of teenagers. But behind his great performance, if he has problems with drugs and alcohol, he should not be followed by the fans.  These kinds of things could ruin many teenagers life if they follow his lifestyle.

Q. What are the qualities of a good leader?
A. I think it is really important for a good leader to have integrity in his life. As he leads an institution or a company, he should lead by example. For instance, when a boss wants all of his employees to come to work on time, he should not come late. And then a good leader would not only give orders to his team. He should be open minded and listen to the ideas of his teams. With this kind of attitudes, many people would respect and admire him.

Thank you. That's the end of the IELTS Speaking Test.
